Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost the base stats of the item or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.
Typically objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, whereas items with strong bases such as eth titans aren't affected much in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus, or extra effect, while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot, dropped by enemies, or obtained as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.
To upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the user must choose it and click the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. item upgrades will appear on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be as well as the component or material needed for the upgrade to take place.
There are three kinds of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, will include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding an Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool and replaces glyphs with another glyph the previous one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, except for inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from the previous versions in a few fundamental ways. Gear is now classified into tracks, and each item is able to be upgraded a certain number of times before it is "leveled out." The upgrade cost is increased with each level however the materials required do not increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few items and maximize the effect of those items, rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
This allows the item to receive new upgrade components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if an upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its highest level it is able to be given affixes that increase its features. The number of affixes available is determined by the item's class. For example, a rare or unique weapon with a normal base will only have two affixes available for it, whereas legendary armors can have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the item is at its current level and in what slot it is located in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.
If an item fails to reach its maximum level, the NPC offers the player the choice to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower chance of success.
To measure the height of a structure engineers employ a level to compare the measurement to a known reference point such as a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method guarantees that the buildings are constructed with the highest degree of precision and safety.

Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can drastically enhance an item's strength or damage, as well as other characteristics. You can do this via the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling is costly and should only be used in very rare instances.
The game lets players recycle upgraded items, which can be used to earn Reroll tokens. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item or another item of the same type. Recyclable items come with a gauge that shows the amount of upgrade. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item determines the amount of level filled.
In the past, certain upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd get the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other items. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed, and all upgrades have the identical chance of rolling each stat. This can be a good or a bad thing, depending on your requirements and wants from your equipment.
Each upgraded item may be equipped with a special bonus that boosts the power of the item by a specific percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to the standard affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the greater your chance of obtaining the bonus of a different kind.
The game also includes number set that grants a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on a unit. This is a good method to give an individual character more power without spending a lot of money.
Many players reroll their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. This is because rerolling could offer a quicker path to a powerful character which allows them to achieve higher levels and advance in the game more quickly.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be arranged in a variety of ways. They can be of different dimensions, have none of the elements, or have a single element. They can be used for organizing data or sorting information. They can also be useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways, including by size and shape.
There are a variety of set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading, while others are not. Armor sets with high defense or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade in the event that your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already extensive.
Certain set items are upgraded for their unique procs which can be beneficial in certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are two examples of this. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. ( item upgrader and Level requirements also increased).
Upgrades are also possible to bring certain items up to the level of the different tiers. For instance the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 76. Upgrades to lower-level items can improve their defense, and make them more competitive when it comes to damage.
To see if an item is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button on the screen for their character. This will display the item's characteristics, as well as the necessary items required to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, armor and weapons have higher value when fully updated. Particularly, for weapons that feature spell/weapon damage glyphs upgrading them to gold is recommended because it will provide a significant improvement in their stats. Weapons with an upgraded appearance will also benefit from this because its defense will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
